Financial Pursuits

Welcome to my financial log. This is where I keep track of my market research, experiment with different investment strategies, and document my personal journey toward financial independence.

Investment Philosophy

I treat personal finance a lot like my homelab and tech projects: do the research, build a solid foundation, and then let the system run on autopilot. For me, building wealth is really just about patience, letting compound interest do its thing, and not panicking when the market swings.

Core Principles

  • Diversification: Making sure my eggs aren't all in one basket by expanding internationally, rather than just sticking to US stocks.
  • Awareness: Staying up to date with global news and geopolitics to understand macro market shifts.
  • Consistency: Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) on a set schedule, rain or shine.
  • Research: Digging into the actual fundamentals before risking my capital.
  • Patience: Keeping emotions out of it and playing the long game.

Portfolio Breakdown

Asset Allocation

A healthy portfolio needs a good mix of safe bets and growth plays. Here is a high-level breakdown of where I put my money.

Equities (Stocks)

I stick mainly to broad-market index funds and ETFs for steady growth. Lately, I've been adding more international exposure to diversify, specially focusing on markets in Asia and the Middle East.

Digital Assets

I keep a calculated chunk of my portfolio in crypto. This ties directly into the hardware mining and hashing projects I run in my garage!

Reserves

Cash is king when things go south. I keep a solid emergency fund in High-Yield Savings Accounts (HYSA) so I'm always ready when there's opportunity in the market.

Foreign Currencies

Holding capital in multiple fiat currencies across different countries. This hedges against USD inflation and ensures my cash isn't all tied up in a single centralized basket.

Long Term Vision

Tracking these numbers is ultimately about buying freedom. The goal is to build a highly secure financial foundation where investment returns provide enough of a comfort cushion to live comfortably and manage my own time.

By securing this independence, I can fund my projects without financial stress and maintain a high quality of life when I eventually relocate to Asia. It is about ensuring that my future is defined by autonomy rather than necessity.
